Well
we won a our 51st feature race at Osborn, Mo.
We went to
the Knoxville Nationals on a winning note but it didn't last for
long. On our quilfying night I lead the first six laps from the
pole in our heat race only to have the right rear torsion arm
break I limped it around to finish 8th with the right side of
the car dragging the ground the last four laps. That put us in
the B feature with a bound up rear end. It was enough to mess
up our entire nationals.
We ended up
in the D Feature on Saturday night and the race track was so wet
it was not fit to race on. The start was terrible and I had to
check up to keep from hitting the car in front of me and the poor
guy behind me couldn't get stopped and ran over my right rear
tire and got into the fence. It punctured my right rear tire in
the process. There was a wreck on the second start that allowed
us to get the tire changed. Now we had to start 22nd on a track
that you couldn't pass on. We made our way up to 11th in the twelve
lap feature. I passed eleven cars in twelve laps I guess under
the conditions I can't be to unhappy. I would like to see longer
features at the nationals to give a guy a better chance to transfer
from the back at least a lap per car.
At home at
State Fair Speedway something broke inside the engine when we
started it. So I had to just watch and there's nothing worse for
me than to stand by and watch everyone else race!
More coming
soon about the future for me!
Spring news
Now for the good news
we have purchased one of Mark Kinser's engines from Gary Stanton
to run at Knoxville this season. I have some pictures of it on
this page. I have been saying we have been underpowered for the
last two seasons now we will see if I know what I'm talking about!
This
is Gary Stanton in his shop. He was very nice to us and I hope
we get to winning races so we can do more business with him!!
This is John He
does the assembly of the engines.
In this photo he's
pulling our engine off the dyno....
These are all photos
of different engines around Gary's shop...
Gary's new dyno room
still in progress. NICE!
That's all for now, check back. I'll try to keep this
page informative.
I have a close friend that worked
with Derrick, and through him I felt like I knew a little part
of him. He will be missed by more than just football fans!
