I started racing karts when I was thirteen years old. My dad bought an old Margay kart with a Mac91 engine. We started racing with a bunch of farmers at Green City Mo. we raced around two sides of the square right downtown. Talk about cool city fathers! The following year dad bought a brand new Margay kart and a new Mac93 engine. We were off to the races for real.

That year we won the Missouri State Championship for the first time and were running very well at the Winternationals in Memphis Tn. when Mark Andretti ran over us knocking off the throttle cable and ending a good run. All through high school we ran several different kinds of karts, dirt, asphalt sprint, and enduro.

With my mom and dads time and money and a lot of help from the Scovill family in Kansas City we won Four straight Missouri State Championships,Three Oklahoma State Championships, Three division 5 Championships,One Winternationals and a third place finish at the dirt Grandnationals in my first time in a dirt kart ever!
I was one of only forty drivers to be invited to the Professional Karting Association's event held in conjunction with the Formula One Grand Prix of Long Beach in 1983. I had the privilege in karting to compete against such luminaries as Scott Pruett,Robby Flock,Mark Dinsmore, and John and Mark Andretti.
